Thoughts and Smiles Share

This is the last day that the first Pit Crew will be sharing from Thoughts and Smiles. I think this flower is a favorite of the designers.

I chose to focus a lot on the little flower background stamp on this card as well. Since the card color is a deep gray, the white ink really does a nice job accenting and setting of the important design elements of this card. The label, the half circle and the big flower.

I made a pom pom flower for the middle of this flower using various small punches, patterned paper, and a brad. Stay tuned this coming month for the Pit Crew Too, and all of their projects they will be sharing. Thanks for stopping by. Go check out the other Pit Crew’s projects!

You Did It!

Hey everyone! What a weekend it has been! I turned the big 40 on Saturday, and it has just been a fun time with family this weekend. I hope this finds you just as well, today! I’m sharing a project today that I did with the new Thoughts and Smiles kit from Avocado Arts. I love how creamy bright this card turned out. That flower is so bold and fun to work with, and the little polka dots really make a nice background.

I shaded this flower with various chalk inks to achieve this look. Inked it up with light ink (I actually started with a yellow here), and then shaded the edges with a darker shades. Don’t be scared to really shade the edges if you decide to try it. It may look like too much, but it really isn’t when you see the image stamped. I use the tear drop shaped inks, so I could have control over the center of the flower as well.

The little bracket stamp fits nicely in one of my SU! punches. I always try and find what fits well in punches that I have. This ended up being a nice match.

Go and see what the other girls did today!

Hope

Just a little quick share today with The Avocado Arts set, My Wish For You. Avocado Arts has great extra sets like this that aren’t part of the kit memberships. Check it out. This set has LOVELY illustrations, and I just love that sentiment.

I flipped that last little butterfly (the purple one) up on it’s tails to make it look like it will really fly off the page! Have a great day, everyone!

“Thoughts and Smiles” Sneak Peek.

I have had a really great time with last month’s kit. I think “Sew Nice” is one of my favorite kits so far. Did you get it? If you did, let me know and link me to some of your projects so I can give you some love! I had a lovely time slowing down and making this card that I am sharing today.  The background and sentiment is my sneak peek, while the tag is from Sew Nice.

Here is the sweet tag from Sew Nice…

and the sweet flowers and leaves from “Thoughts and Smiles”, this month’s kit. That sweet and lovely mirrored bird is a Heidi Swapp gem that I have had for a long while now. She just needed to live on this card, I think. Now, go be inspired with what the other girls have to share, and don’t forget to please let me know if you ordered the Sew Nice kit and link me to some of your projects!

Friendship is made with love

Really quick inspiration post tonight using the new Avocado Arts kit, Sew Nice!

I used the Avocado Style Borders and Sentiments set for the background of my card, and the flower and sentiment from Sew Nice to complete it! Strokes of copic markers were used to color the portions of the card that are blue. Kind of a fun way to add color.

Some Spellbinders label dies were used for the sentiment.

Go check out the other inspiration from the Pit Crew!

You’re Sew Nice

Hey everyone! I have some more inspiration from the “Sew Nice” set from Avocado Arts to share with you today! I had a fun time with stamping the stitches and buttons from this set on today’s card.

I like the sketch of this card, and could see it being used in many different ways and uses.

The button at the end of the strip brings in the background and balances the design. This was a fun card to design. Sorry I am a bit brief with this post, but I am in NYC for a concert today and have a lot to get ready here! I hope this card inspires you! Now check out what the other girls have to share today, and the exciting announcement about Avocado Arts going wholesale!

Sew Nice!

So excited to sneaky peek the new kit “Sew Nice”  from Avocado Arts! You know I jump head first in the pool when it comes to these peeks. I am terrible. I should be more subtle, right? NAH! I know you want to see as much as possible. Come on? Ya think I’m not looking out for ya? The only thing in this card that is NOT new is the sentiment! WHOOT!

I had fun with the white embossing technique for my background! See those cool stitchy flowers? I embossed them in white and colored them with red and green copics. I left some of them white as well to go with my overall color palette. Those bold flowers will be a go-to image for me. LOVE the big images! Do you?

Another big image is this great spool of thread. This kit has to be one of my favorite ones yet. I mean, look at that button, and those stitches. And those aren’t the only buttons or stitches, either!  I can’t wait until you go and check out the other girls to see what other images they are peeking! Remember, the WHOLE team is showing their stuff today, so go and give them some major love!

Springtime Celebrations #2!

So I thought I would bring you a part two from yesterday’s post :) This is exactly the same 4×4 card layout with chevron pattern, but in different colors. I decided to make a set of cards with different focal points! This time I chose the Jellybeans from “Springtime Celebrations” and paired them with the jar from “Sweet Treat Sweetie” to make this fun little card. These are perfect cards to go with a bunch of flowers, or a plant that you may give for an Easter gift. Hope you enjoy it! Now, go off and see what the other ladies have created!

Springtime Celebrations

Hey! How is everyone! Before I chat away about my card, I would really love to thank CARDS magazine and their blog- CREATE: for featuring my studio space on Monday. Thanks so much to Wendy Sue Anderson for the nice write-up :) Love that!

So excited to share this 4×4 card with you today! Isn’t she adorable, that cute little chick? I gave her new clothes this time, too ;) To see what I did, check out the full set of images for “Springtime Celebrations” Kit.

I had a good time using the chevron background stamps from the Thankful for You set, because I loved how it looked with the chevrons on the egg. It just really pulled the whole design together. A little clothespin with the sentiment adds a little fresh spring feel to the card.

Adding the top of the egg onto the bottom corner of the center panel, just adds to the sweet whimsy of these images. Love.

Thanks for looking at my goodies today. I loved sharing them with you :) Check out what the team has to share using this kit today! It’s good stuff, people. Good stuff :)
